Rotis, IF you can get the desired flattening and size, are chewy. I tried different doughs. Plus this units surfaces were uneven, causing one side roti to be thicker.

Wonderfully versatile

Not only I am making tortillas in this beautiful appliance, I’m also warming them up sometimes! So nice with a nice warm wrap! It works impeccably, and it is an excellent quality! I am absolutely loving this addition to my kitchen and having a lot of fun using it. By the way, it is lightweight and easy to put in and out a cabinet quickly and the handle is folding so it takes less space.

Cooks and presses

I love the idea of this little tortilla maker. It cooks the tortillas whilst flattening them.We used a recipe we found online and in spite of using golftball sized dough, the tortillas cooked fine enough, but were hard on the exterior like a chip. I wonder if using their recipe would have been better. The dough did not stick to the flat iron. Our tortilla press did break on our first use sadly.

It's a great kitchen tool

I made roti with this the other day and it worked perfectly! It heated up quickly and stayed hot the entire time. It is definitely non-stick, so there are no worries about the dough sticking to the surface--no oil, nothing is needed. I do recommend flattening the dough balls out quite a bit with your hands because they tend to slide around on the surface as you're closing the lid. When you close the lid, the ball gets flattened pretty quickly, unlike the manual process with a rolling pin. If you make a lot of naan, roti, or tortillas, this is worth having.

Top Quality & with a strong desire to master, my good friend must manipulate her chapati dough

A very good friend of mine- one very much like a mother to me- loves to make chapati and has done so her whole life. Making it in a regular frying pan though, I thought a griddle like this - with a flat top and bottom to cook on- would make things a lot easier. After all, when you make something like a tortilla in a frying pan, at a certain point you want to get heat on the top and bottom- so you need to flip it. With this item, there is no need to do that- you can actually heat both sides at once- and, I think, get a thicker or thinner shell- with this item. However, she has been making chapati in a frying pan- for over sixty years. When she went to try the roti maker- she found that the dough she uses for the frying pan- was hard to use in the roti maker. She has to play with her dough and she says, each batch she makes she is trying to get a dough that will work with this item. One thing that I think might be nice, is to be able to see someone make chapati on this roti maker. I think my good friend might take a lesson- if she saw a woman who has been making chapati her whole life (like herself), as she has, who might introduce her to a dough recipe that might work on this roti maker. Because the dough she uses in a frying pan- does not seem to be working out on the roti maker- as the roti maker is very different from the frying pan she uses. It is a flat griddle with no side- so when you put the dough down- it can and will run out the sides if it is not the right consistency to work on the roti maker. While this takes some skill to use- it seems to be an item that even a chapati maker for decades could easily use- it is a very quality-made and very well-designed item. That the handle can attach and detach- I think, is a nice feature. And once chapati is successfully made on this item- my friend thinks that it will be a better product to use to make her chapati- than making it in a frying pan. Because there has been no real way to manipulate the thickness of her chapati making it in a frying pan- however it can be done here, with the clamp-like addition of a top and bottom to the shell. This roti maker may be harder to use for some when you have been making chapati in a frying pan for decades- however, it will be an easy way to make this food, once it is mastered. And, if it wasn't worth it, my good friend would have given up on the device- and given it back to me so that I could try out pancakes with it- and also try making chapati myself.Best for those who are just learning to make chapati, I think that beginners will have the best success with this device- right away, that is. Those who have been making chapati for a long time, depending on what they cook it in- may have to manipulate their dough recipe- thus taking a bit longer to master the device. However, this device is so nice and will make such better chapati- my friend keeps trying to master it, she says and each time she makes a new batch of dough- sees how it will work on the roti maker first.Make sure to check out the photo that I included of the item, which will show how flat each side of the roti maker is.If there are any questions about this device, please feel free to reach out and ask. Please know that because in the background of my photos there were some things that I did not want to include, I did manipulate the background- blurring it with the Google feature on my phone. However, these are photos of the roti makers that I received and gave to a friend to make chapati.Thank you

No Flattening Necessary Easy to Use--Do Not Press Hard on Handles

This roti maker made the process of making tortillas a lot easier. I initially had some issues because I did not read the directions and flattened the dough before placing it in the maker. After cleaning and oiling the machine, per the instructions, you are to place a slightly pressed dough ball to a half-inch thickness at the higher end of the cooking plate (near the back), close and press the top for a second, lift the top and center the flattened dough, wait for 15-20 secs until the dough begins to bubble (see picture), turn the dough over and cover the top without pressing for another 15 secs, finally, remove the cooked roti. Please read the included instructions for clarity.I wanted to add an edit based on another review. If you press too hard on the handle, your dough will be too flat, producing a hard tortilla. I initially had this issue of overdoing it on the handle. You should not hear any weird sounds, which indicates you are pressing too hard.ProsYou do not need a rolling pinIt is a lot quicker than a comalRoti/tortilla cooks evenlyHeats quicklyLess messy than the stovetopConThe dough initially slides forward until you get the hang of it (I tilted the handle side up to prevent this); this is the most frustrating part.It may be my dough recipe, but the tortillas were slightly chewy and rubbery. I will continue to experiment with an actual roti recipe.Overall, this machine is a great concept; I will use it a lot. It is also affordable and would be a lovely gift.

Roti maker 10 inches

It is the perfect size for making 10 inch flat bread or pocket sandwiches or chalupas. It is flat panels with a nice long handle and warmer mitt. Teflon coated.

I gifted the Cheese Board Set to my sister for her housewarming, and she hasn’t stopped using it. The oak wood feels premium, and the utensils cut cheese smoothly. Guests always compliment how elegant it looks.

The Roti Maker has cut my cooking time in half. Instead of rolling and cooking one by one, I can prepare multiple in minutes. It’s a real time-saver, especially for busy family dinners.

The Takoyaki Maker is amazing. I used to only enjoy takoyaki at restaurants, but now I can make 18 at a time at home. The included picks made flipping easy, and the flavor turned out authentic.
